Five star performance...
A present for my definitely-non-tech, not-so-young wife. Bought to replace her ancient radio/cassette (which probably had seen better days, though we can't remember when). She doesn't like earplugs, so we've bought some low/mid range earphones and some basic speakers; these do the job nicely and, with the audio setting on 'Rest of World', the available volume is quite high enough to really annoy the EU Health & Safety people.
This being a new gadget for us, the controls took a bit of sorting out but apparently are quite usual for MP3 players. The user manual is typically economical with information; this is the sole reason for the missing star - the performance of this SanDisk player is everything we had been led to expect.
SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4GB MP3 Player
It is a good mp3 player but it froze when i first bought it and i thought i would have to send it back but on resetting it started working correctly again.
I have not been able to download the latest firmware and this is a concern whether there is a problem with this fuze or whether it is my computer.
I do not want to return it but may have to if problem continues.
Regarding the fuze it is very good for the price and in particular i like the recorder and the sound quality is very good of any files you download.
I am pleased with it and would have given it 5 stars if i could have done what the instructions tells you to do.
Brilliant
This being my first MP3 player, I was not sure what to expect, well to say I was surprised by this Sansa Fuze, is an understatement, I was really very pleasantly surprised.
The sound quality from the supplied in ear phones, was better than I imagined, but trying my sennheiser headphones, just made the sound fantastic, and even better was plugging this little marvel into my car stereo, which was the main reason for purchasing the Fuze, to have none stop music, any time when driving, it saves changing CD's and holds so much music.
It has all of my music from my pc, which is in the region of 45 CD's playing in random mode, hence my title, this tiny player is truly brilliant.
GOOD PERFORMANCE AND VALUE FOR MONEY - BUT...
I'm on my third Sansa and I rate them highly but you could have a problem. Because of Euro regs. Sandisk have cut the maximum volume level to the point where you may well find it too low. There is a way of getting round this - see the Sandisk forums site. But otherwise, great.
Sansa Fuze
I have always resisted getting an MP3 player as my old iPAQ was capable of this, if a bit clumsy. And I always figured that one day I would end up with an iPhone or similar, but eventually I decided to get something cheap and I have always had great success with the SanDisk product range in the past, so when the Gadget Show suggested looking at this I was keen. the product feels great in your hand and the controls are lovely. The kids prefer the selection wheel over the iPOD one as it actualy moves. I wanted upgradeability and went straight out and bought a 4GB micro-SD which allows me to load songs on the PC then just plug it in and away we go. Putting songs and other content on is simplicity itself, expecially when compared with iTunes. The video is clear and watchable (although the conversion software is VERY slow) and the radio reception is a nice feature. If I had to make one critiscism it is that the volume output by the device is a little low. This may be on purpose, or there may be a setting I have not found yet, but putting it through the car stereo, I have to turn the volume up very loud. To counter this I have used the custom equalizer and turned everything up to 12, but it could still be a little louder.
All in all for the money, this is a lovely little device.
Enjoy
