Sony mp3 player
Fantastic product, only downside is still trying to figure out how to get all artist picture from the Sony program. Apart from that worth the money spent.
I'm buying another
I did not but this for myself, but after using it a few times I've decided to ditch my Zune and get a Sony X Series!!!
Aside from the great sound, easy to use interface and compact size the thing that i like most is that sony don't force you to use proprietary software to use their devices. An MP3 player the way it should be!!!
Impressed by the noise cancellation
I had a Sony MP3 player before and, being impressed by the sound quality on that, decided to upgrade to the X-series. I was instantly taken by the noise cancellation. I've used the noise-cancellation facility on buses, trains, planes (including for the in-flight movie via the provided connector) and in the office (basically everywhere it has a preset for) and it really is a far superior listening experience in those environments. Subtle classical music? No problem, Debussy all the way to work and back!
I could go on but I'm sure other reviewers have said it all already. For me the winners are the sound quality, video quality, button access, file organisation, noise cancellation, headphones and build-quality. Oh, and I quite like the YouTube application and podcast access too. The not-so-bothered-abouts are the browser and the non-existent video-conversion and mediocre file-handling capabilities of the provided software. I don't use the photo album facility. Anyway, the pluses are so good that, for me, they cancel out the minuses. Had mine 7 months and I'm very happy with it.
excellent player download the browser update!
great sound fun features. the browser is basic (the pages are designed for a mobile) but that's what you want on a small screen. Pages are fast loading if you get the update from Sony.
Touch screen is apalling
If you sweat, even a tiny bit, and touch the screen it no longer works - it has no idea where you finger is any more and just randomly guesses (my iPhone does not display this behaviour btw). You have to wrap your finger in a piece of cloth and even then it's massively unpredictable - you can get all the way through the menu to a folder then it will select "back to song" or you can scroll down then it won't let you stop so you whizz past your song with no way of selecting it etc. It's so frustrating I've almost smashed it so many times.
Useless for any physical activity.
